The cultic mysteries of the scorpion goddess Serqet are subtle and deep. She was primarily a goddess of magic and of poisonous creatures, such as cobras. She is also a goddess of justice, a protector of woman and children. She was closely associated with the breath of life. Her enemies would have their breath literally taken away by the effect of a poisonous bite or sting but she also gave the justified dead the breath of life in the afterworld.

Serquet was a decidedly complex power of dark radiance and grace. She was a guide for the dead - guardian of the theurgistic mysteries of alchemy and controlled sexual power. She reminds us that death walks with us throughout our lives and that each moment contain within the potential to become liminal and thus to transport us beyond not only ourselves but beyond anything and everything that we might recognize as constituting our understanding of reality.

Goddess Serquet's  energy is particularly useful during difficult Chiron transits when that wound within us that cannot and will not be healed rather they must be embraced... hers is the power of sacrifice and surrender.

Whatever else she may be, she is first and foremost a mystery to be invited into your life and be approached with humility and gratitude. Partake of her gifts and of her energy if you will, not so as to empower yourself but so as to be in relationship with something to which only your heart has access. Be emptied that you may be filled.
