Sleipnir is Norse God Odin’s octopedal horse. Sleipnir means gliding smoothly and because Sleipnir has eight legs, he is faster than any other horse in all of heaven and earth. Sleipnir carries Odin over the seas, through the air and back and to and from the land of the dead. It is said that Sleipnir rides with the wind and that his eight legs represent the eight winds of North, Northwest, Northeast, South, Southwest, Southeast, West, and East. Sleipnir gave Odin freedom of movement and in most mythological legends the horse is the token for free movement not only in the physical but also in the spiritual worlds.
